When it comes to herbal remedies, you get what you pay for.
The black cohosh that we carefully select for Kira Ltd's Black Cohosh is cultivated in the optimum conditions and has to meet strict growing criteria. This extreme care ensures that the plants are harvested at their peak so their roots and rhizomes produce the highest yield of active ingredient: scientifically know as LI 182.
After gently drying the plants to preserve this active ingredient, we use state of the art processing methods to extract, purify and measure it. Every Kira Ltd's Black Cohosh tablet contains a consistent, standardised 4.5 mg extract of black cohosh (Cimicifuga racemosa L) - equivalent to up to 54mg of dried root. This absolute accuracy means you can be confident you will get the same dose every time.
Kira Black Cohosh is well tolerated, with a low toxicity and a low incidence of mild adverse reactions when taken in recommended dose.
It should not be taken by children, or by women who are pregnant or breast-feeding.
It should not be taken by patients currently recieving treatment for or have had a history of an estrogen dependent tumour
Patients who have active liver disease or a history of liver disease should not take Black Cohosh.
Patients should immediately stop taking the product and consult their doctor if they develop any signs and symptoms suggestive of liver dysfunction (fatigue, yellowing of the skin and the eyes, severe upper stomach pain with nausea and vomiting or dark urine)
Occasional mild gastrointestinal complaints have also been reported.
