Look to the East

Take inspiration from Asia and try our new healthy heart recipe tonight!

Incidences of heart problems are much less common in Japan and China, and this is thought to be largely to do with the healthier Asian diet which includes lots of fish, vegetables and rice and nowhere near the amount of artificial colours and flavourings that we use so much in the west.  Try this simple salmon stir fry the omega-3 in the salmon and olive oil help keep arteries healthy. Garlic contains a powerful ingredient called allicin which has heart health benefits and may help maintain cholesterol levels. This recipe serves 2 but the quantities can be adapted depending on how many you are feeding.

Ingredients:
2 fresh salmon fillets, cubed
2 cloves of garlic, crushed
1 pack mange tout
1 pack baby corn, chopped
1 pack pak choi, chopped
1 can beansprouts
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp sesame oil
1 inch grated ginger
Handful of cashews
Soy sauce
Juice of 1 lime

Add the oil, ginger and garlic to a hot pan or wok and then gently fry the salmon for 4-5 minutes.  Add the vegetables and stir fry for another 5 minutes.

When everything is cooked through add the soy sauce and lime juice and serve with boiled rice or noodles and enjoy the simple and healthy flavours of the East!
